My very own creation story:

I have been a teacher for the last 25 years and have seen the power of reconnecting our tamariki and our whānau back to their identity. Acknowledging the power of mahi toi, both traditional and contemporary, to allow the sharing of our past, our present, and our future. Taking the time to slow down and value the process of a weave has taught me to sit, to learn, to connect, and to cherish all that comes from those things in balancing my hauora. Now sitting in the consultancy space, I have the opportunity to remind people to do the same.

I have been on a journey of reconnection to my whakapapa for many years and feel blessed to have been surrounded by good people who uplift me and encourage me to continue to walk that path. To allow my tamariki to know their worth in this world, to hear their whakapapa and see their ways of knowing, being, and doing reflected in their world has become my why.

In the beginning……

The pōtiki of our whānau snapped her ACL playing rugby, and a friend gifted us some boards to help us keep our wairua in check during the recovery phase. Little did we know that this would be the birth of our new mahi. As a whānau, we began to weave using contemporary materials while passing on the kōrero of the traditional patterns. Through the gifts of our tūpuna, we were able to continually reconnect with our whakapapa, our mātauranga and make sense of where we sat in our changing world. We hope you love our mahi toi, but most of all, we hope it allows you to create your own stories when you look at it, stories to remember, to celebrate, and to pass to future generations. Please be patient with me while I navigate a new journey with all new learning.
