Tukutuku panels are a traditional form of Toi Māori (art) that play a significant role in the embellishment of wharenui (meeting houses) across Aotearoa New Zealand. Historically, tukutuku panels are created using natural materials such as harakeke (flax), wood, and feathers, woven into complex patterns that each hold their own unique meanings.
